From the Crag & Canyon, Banff, Alberta, Friday, August 23, 1946, pg 1:

Killed in Accident Near Canmore

Nick Pingert, 229 4th Avenue East, Calgary, is dead as a result of a car accident which occurred Thursday evening about 7 o'clock on the highway just east of the Gateway Inn, near the east gate and Sam Feldman of 223 4th Avenue East, Calgary, the other occupant of the car is in the Canmore hospital.

Details of the cause of the accident are very meagre at the time of going to press, but it is presumed from the marks on the road, that the car skidded off the highway, into the ditch, and in an effort to get it righted rolled over throwing Pingert clear, ... killing him instantly. It is not known yet who was the driver of the car, nor the extent of Feldman's injuries.
