THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Jun. 2, 1995, p.8A. ‘Hubert Drake, 67, of Mesquite, died Thursday, June 1, 1995, in Mesquite Community Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Moore will officiate, with burial in Forest Chapel Cemetery of Chicota, under the direction of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Drake was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Bokchito, OK, a son of Kim Buck and Bertha Walker Drake. He attended public schools in Honey Grove and attended Paris Junior College. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Baptist. He retired after 35 years of service with UARCO, Inc. He married Dean Hensley on Aug. 21, 1953, in Honey Grove. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kyle Drake of Dallas; two daughters, Marita Schmidt of Austin and Cindy Drake of Mesquite; three grandchildren, Aaron Schmidt, Andy Holcomb and Sabrina Drake; his mother, Bertha Drake of Arthur City; a brother, Richard Drake of Powderly; five sisters, Hazel Briley of Paris, Melba Parrish of Rockwall, Helen McDaniel of Sulphur Springs and Ann Gooch and Becky Pridemore, both of Sumner. He was preceded in death by his father and by a sister, Mary Ruth Berry. Named to serve as pallbearers are N.B. Nations, Lonnie Clemment, Gene Slagle, Tommy Haynes, Willie Ausmus and Bo Pridemore.’
