Ronald D. Krantz, 23-year-old Washington County man, was killed in a one-car accident early this morning.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krantz of 12 miles northeast of Washington.
Authorities said the Krantz’ car went off a shoulder of highway 218 south of Hills early this morning, hurdled a fence and creek and slammed into a bridge abutment.
The car traveled in the ditch for 165 feet, then leaped into the air over the fence and creek.
The car landed upside down and Krantz died instantly.
Ronald Dean Krantz, was born June 15, 1942, in Washington, a son of Ernest and Isabelle Kennard Krantz. He was reared in this county and graduated from Riverside High School.
He was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church and the U. S. Army reserve unit in Washington. He was employed at Procter and Gamble in Iowa City.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jones Funeral Home, with Rev. Ellis Powell in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krantz; four brothers and a sister at home; Dallas, Steve, Tim, Michael and Cheryl; and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kennard of Kalona.
