Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, for Mrs. Irene Reid, 66, of 504 E. Fourth ST., Eldon, who died Saturday, April 13, 1974, at a Kansas City nursing home where she had been a patient for a month.

She was born July 14, 1907, at Eugene to Isaac A. and Cora Bond Jenkins. She was married in 1923 to Robert Roy Gosney, who died in January 1953. On Aug 6, 1953, she was married to Albert John Reid. He died July 6, 1970.

Mrs. Reid was a member of the Eldon Baptist Church and the Auxiliary of Veterans of World War I Post 1442. She also was a Gold Star War Mother. She moved to Eldon two years ago from Kansas City where she had lived for 17 years.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Gosney, Waterloo, Iowa, and Ralph Gosney, Walnut Creek, Calif., three daughters, Mrs. Alice Turner and Mrs. Edith Warren, both of Kansas City, and Mrs. Peggy Wilson, Independence; three sisters, Mrs. S.W. Roberts, Eugene, Mrs. Edgar Allen, Eldon, and Mrs. James Albertson, Kansas City; five brothers, Basil E. Jenkins, Coffeyville, Kan., Tandy A. Jenkins, Pratt, Kan., Earl A. Jenkins, Kansas City, Kan., Hershel I. Jenkins, Etterville and Robie G. Jenkins, Kansas City; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Eugene Cemetery with the Rev. Don Wainwright officiating.
