R.G. Chick and Mary Jane Killbrough were married in their native Missouri in 1881. Children born to this marriage were:
-Martha Keele
-Minnie, wife of Hugh
-D.F. Chick, son
-W.H. Chick, son, who died in 1924 in Colorado.
-V.C. Chick
-Lizzie, wife of Joe Shields who died in 1930.
-Janie McPherson, who died in 1925 in Arkansas
-Ella, wife of Hugh Gillmore
-Bessie, wife of Albert Pemberton, who died in 1935 in Jack County
-R.P. Chick, son
-Fannie, wife of George Daves
-Infant daughter, who died in infancy

Jim and Mary Jane Chick arrived in Palo Pinto County in 1857. They soon were settled in what is now known as Chick Bend of the Brazos River, northeast of Palo Pinto. Several log houses they built on their home place were standing when the land was sold by the family several years ago. They were farmers and ranchers. Jim Chick served as Sheriff of Palo Pinto County in 1867.
