Mr. Roy Tipton Blevins, age 64, of Elizabethton, TN passed way Saturday, August 30, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Wiley Robert and Myrtle Mae Carrier Blevins. Mr. Blevins was a 1968 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a supervisor at Snap-On-Tools for thirty-nine years. Mr. Blevins was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and he raised Jack Russell dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Ike Blevins and Robert Steve Blevins and a nephew, Charlie Blevins.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Marie Blevins, of the home; a daughter, Julie Smith and husband Ned, Hampton; a son, Robbie Blevins, of the home; three grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Hannah Smith and Lane Tipton Smith, all of Hampton; four brothers, Jerry Blevins, Elizabethton, Phil Blevins, Jonesborough, Lee Blevins and Mack Blevins, both of Elizabethton and three sisters, Judy Post and Elizabeth Patrick, both of Elizabethton and Hassie Eads, Bluff City. Two special nieces, Brenda Hall, Helen Wagensellar and Madison Ray and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Roy Tipton Blevins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, September 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Dale Greenwell and Brother Frank Osborne officiating. Music will be under the direction of Preacher Jim Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at any time.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Emmert Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Blevins, Dennis Blevins, Frank Eads, James Whitehead, Ray Whitehead and James Hurt. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Blevins, Joe Post and the men of Harvest Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special thank you to Charles Holliwell. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
