Emily Anderson Holloway, 84, passed away Thursday, March 29, surrounded by her family. She was born in Apopka, Florida and grew up in Sanford. She was a resident of Fort Myers for 61 years. Emily attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, where she was an avid tennis player. She later moved to Tampa, where she met her husband, Kenneth, while she was working in a Western Union office. After marrying in 1947, they lived in Houston where Ken attended college. They moved to Fort Myers in 1951. Emily was a member of the Caloosa Garden Club and served as treasurer. She enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed working with school children to encourage appreciation and the love of growing plants and flowers. She worked for the telephone company in Fort Myers for twenty years.
Emily was a loving and generous lady who adored her family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, a granddaughter, three grandsons, great-grandaughter, sister, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, in 2006.
