She was born on June 21, 1922, in Cerro Gordo to William N. and Edith I. (Sites) Dodd. She married William "Bill" Aeschleman on May 7, 1949.
She is survived by her sister, Betty DeVore of Hammond; two grandchildren, Alex Zich of New Orleans, La., and Joe Zich of Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, Gynell Zich and Steve; two brothers; and one sister.
LaVerne loved to take care of children. She would watch and baby-sit children in the community. One child in particular that she took care of was Caycee Mooney, a special needs child, for more than 20 years. She would refer to Caycee as her granddaughter.
LaVerne also worked for PARC in Peoria as the activity director.
LaVerne was a sports enthusiast, watching Cubs baseball and going to hockey games in Peoria.
LaVerne was so grateful for the love and support from Pat Mooney and her family.
A funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Peoria Apostolic Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Health in Chillicothe.
