Saginaw News, Mon, May 13, 1929, p 14:"Kerver--Mrs. Sophia Kerver, 60, wife of Karl Kerver, died Monday at her home, 810 South Bates Street. Sophia Mertz was born April 11, 1869, in Russia and was married there in 1886 to Henry Spindler. In 1903 they came to America, coming to Caro and a year later they moved to a farm in Tittabawassee township. They lived there until 1914 when they came to Saginaw. Mr. Spindler died November 12 (sic), 1918. She was married December 19, 1926 to Karl Kerver who survives her together with four children, John Spindler, and Mrs. Fred Eurich, Saginaw, Mrs. Jacob Aab and Miss Amelia Spindler, Flint, one sister, Mrs. John Diener, Munger, and fourteen grandchildren. The funeral will take place at 1:30 pm Wednesday at her home and at 2 pm at St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. Oscar G. Frey will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood."
