Eddie Bell Shaw, Jr., departed this earthly life on September 26, 2008. Eddie was born on March 26, 1939 in Brookville, MS.

He was raised by his grandmother in Murphysboro, IL. Eddie attended school there and graduated from Murphysboro Township High School in 1957. Eddie served in the U.S. Army from 1971 until 1984. He was employed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, North Chicago, IL for 42 years. He was a third degree mason.

Eddie was united in holy matrimony to Sarah Lynn Drake and to that union was born four children, Marlene, Eddie (Duke) III, Victoria and David; he also is survived by five grandchildren, Erika, Alex, Sidney, Asia, and Julian; a very special and dear niece, Phyllis (Harlan) Snowden; and also Dewayne Ingram for all their love, time and thoughtfulness; also two sisters-in-law, Merle Coleman and Patricia Freeman both of Zion, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 3109 Gilead Avenue, Zion, IL. Pastor John McBride, Officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Cemetery, Zion, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.
