Alvin grew up in the Holyoke area, farming and ranching. He graduated from Phillips County High School in 1939, then attended the Emily Griffeth Opportunity School in Denver, Colorado in 1940, taking the Commercial Classes in Comptometer and Multigraphing. He moved with his parents in 1946 to Ogallala, Nebraska. There they owned a grocery store until 1952, when they moved to Julesburg and purchased a bar and liquor store. He married Thelma Mae Myers July 14, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. They moved to North Platte in 1954 and he hired out on the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked at the freight house as a clerk for 22 years taking a disability retirement in 1976. His later years he lived in the Pawnee Retirement Hotel in North Platte, Nebraska until his death at 61 years of age.

Alvin A. Claymon, 61, of 217 E. Fifth, died Tuesday at his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1921 in Holyoke, Colo., to Arthur and Mary Claymon. He grew up in the Holyoke area and came to North Platte in 1950.

He worked for the Union Pacific railroad in the clerk's department for 22 years.

He was a member of the B.R.V.A.R.C. and the Eagles. he is survived by four daughters, Sharlene (Mrs. Dale) Woodring of Moorefield, Glenda (Mrs. Chet Jr.) Mills of Cheyenne, Wyo., Kathleen Claymon of Scottsbluff, and Nancy Claymon of North Platte; and six grandchildren.

He was proceded in deathy by his wife, Thelma, in 1975.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tabier Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Timmons officating. Burial will be in the Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
