Margie Gail Douglas, the daughter of Doris (Berry) and Clifford Haugen was born on September 21, 1945 in Roseau, Minnesota. She grew up just west of the Pinecreek Church and attended the Ross School through the eighth grade. She then attended the Roseau High School where she graduated in 1963.
Margie married John Douglas in Omaha, Nebraska on April 22, 1967. They have been married for 47 years.
John and Margie lived in Pinecreek until 1988 when they moved into Roseau. Margie worked at Citizens State Bank in Roseau for many years, retiring in 2010. She then helped her daughter Sara at her store, “Memories”.
Margie enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She and John traveled to most of the away games and all of the home games they could in support of their grandkids. She loved her children and grandchildren.
Margie enjoyed flower gardening very much and was a member of the NaChur Garden Club. She was an avid reader and involved in many home improvement and decorating projects.
Margie and John are past members of Moe Lutheran Church and current members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau. While in Pinecreek, they were members of the Pinecreek Lutheran Church where Margie was active in the ladies groups. Margie Douglas passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home at the age of 68.
Margie is survived by her husband John of Roseau. Children: Eric (K.C.) Douglas of Roseau, Aaron (Christa) Douglas of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Michael Douglas of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren: Madison, Kaia, John Ross, and William Douglas; Jacob, Adam, Mason, and Ben LePard; and Sophia, Grayson, and Jaxon Douglas. Siblings: Curtis (Donna) Haugen of Roseau, Sonia (Sheldon) Elseth of Rochester, Glen (Gail) Haugen of Badger, Berry (Carla) Haugen of Roseau, and Gordy (Lee Ann) Haugen of Roseau; and son-in-law Wayne LePard. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Margie is preceded in death by her two daughters, Sara Jane LePard and Lora Leigh Douglas; sister Mary Jean Borst; and parents Doris and Clifford Haugen.
