Katherine B. Alexander (Ballard), 85, of North Kingstown, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014. She was the wife of the late William E. Alexander, Sr.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edwin C. and Margaret (Dwyer) Ballard.

A graduate of East Providence High School and Bryant University, she worked as a transcriptionist before starting a family and later worked as a secretary after raising her family.

She volunteered for the North Kingstown Senior Center for nineteen years. A communicant of St. Bernard Church, she was a member of the Women's Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She leaves seven children, three brothers, a sister, eleven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Her funeral was held Monday, August 25, 2014 from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial followed in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Penn Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122 will be appreciated.
