Glendora Steinborn Plath, age 84, of Charleston passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, July 18, 1999 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Funeral services with Reverend Max White officiating.

Glendora was born January 4, 1915 in Mifflin, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert J. and Glendora McDonald Steinborn. She married Raymond A. Plath on June 15, 1940 in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Survivors include her husband Raymond of Charleston; three sons, Richard R. Plath of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul J. Plath of Evansville, Indiana and Carl H. Plath of Marshall, Wisconsin; a daughter-in-law Patricia Plath of Loves Park, Illinois; two grandchildren Michael and Amy Plath, both of Loves Park, Illinois; and, one sister Elizabeth Agneta of Etowah, North Carolina. She was preceded by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Glendora was proud to be an Alumnus of Eastern Illinois University, having earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees in English. Probably the twenty happiest years of her life were spent as an English Teacher at Charleston High School. She enjoyed reading books and newspapers, working crossword puzzles and watching basketball on television. She was an ardent fan of Michael Jordan.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, League of Women Voters, Retired Teachers Association and the Charleston Reading Circle.

The funeral for Glendora Steinborn Plath was Wednesday morning at Adams Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Max White officiating.

Brenda Siefferman provided prelude and postlude music. Pre-recorded selections of "The Holy City," "Ave Maria" and "The Lord's Prayer" were played during the service.

Pallbearers were John Jacka, Amy L. Plath, Carl H. Plath, Michael R. Plath, Paul J. Plath, Richard R. Plath and Sam Swinford. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Mory and Logan Davis.
