Coloma --- Claude R. Hathaway, 93, of P.O. Box 389, Coloma died Tuesday evening, May 20, 1997, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Coloma Methodist Church, with the Rev. Len Schoenherr officiating. Coloma Chapter No. 307, Eastern Star rites will be held in conjunction with the funeral ceremony. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. this evening at Davidson Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Coloma, where Masonic rites will be conducted by Coloma Masonic Lodge No. 162 at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Coloma Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Coloma Masonic Lodge Carpet Fund, Coloma Order of Eastern Star or to Coloma United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hathaway was born Jan. 26, 1904, in Allegan. He was owner and operator of a 98-acre fruit farm in Harford and owned a trucking business in Coloma. He was past master and life member of the Coloma Masonic Lodge No. 162, past patron and life member of the Coloma Chapter No. 307, Order of Eastern Star, a member of Berrien County Farm Bureau and Low 12 Club. He was a member of the Coloma United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dora Wright; two sons -- Larry C. Hathaway of Burbank, CA., and Richard L. Cramer of Los Angeles; one daughter, Jacqui (Erhard) Gerstenkorn of Coloma; four grandchildren; Becky (Bernd) Lucius, Timothy, Colleen and Edward Gerstenkorn; two great-grandchildren--Brittany and Brandon Lucius; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, in 1956; four brothers--Lenard, Junius, James and Lloyd; two sisters--Blanche Mollitor and his twin sister, Maude DeGroff.

Ruth and Claude also had a son Larry born 5 Feb 1938 in Benton Harbor, Berrien, Michigan and he died in Burbank, Los Angeles, California on 25 Mar 1998.
