JAMAICA MAN DIES

Frank E. McGray, 74, Widely Known for Peonie Gardens.

JAMAICA - Frank E. McGray, 74, retired attorney and broker, widely known for his peonie gardens here, died Tuesday in Grace Cottage Hospital, Townshend. He had been in ill health for a year.

A resident of Jamaica since his retirement 10 years ago, Mr. McGray had adopted horticulture as an avocation. His garden of 2,500 peonie plants attracted hundreds of visitors during the height of bloom each summer.

A private funeral service this evening at White's Funeral Home, Townshend, will be followed by cremation. A memorial service in Mr. McGray's garden is planned for Aug 24.

He was born in Prescott, Ariz. [this should read Prescott, Wis. per Karen Tomecek], April 5, 1878, a son of LaForrest and Elizabeth McGray. He graduated from Universiity [sic] of Minnesota Law School and practiced several years in Minnesota before entering the securities business in New York State. Mr. McGray had offices in Watertown and Utica, N. Y. and also in Hartford, Conn. He later engaged in business in New York City.

Surviving are his wife, the former Charlotte Dure; two sons, Bruce of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Andrew of Pleasantville, N. Y., one brother Claud, of Medford, Ore., and six grandchildren.
