Uncle Gifford served the University of Kentucky for a very long time primarily as a professor of speech/debate and as a parlimentarian. He had earned his PhD. He was a huge fan of basketball - his nickname was "Dr. Basketball". He lived to be 102 years and nearly 3 months of age. His mother lived to be 103-1/2 years. Longevity is prominent on this side of the family.
His wishes at death were that no one be notified of his death until 3 days after his ashes were buried.
This link contains a brief synopsis of Uncle Gifford's life. I have a copy somewhere of the original writing he had done for his autobiography - he gave it to me when I last visited him. It was incomplete but is basically what has been put at this link. http://home.insightbb.com/~qy/Legend/
