Romayne passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette at the age of 85. She was a longtime resident of Sunset. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and was a substitute teacher for several years. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and an avid handcrafter who would crotchet beautiful keepsake pieces. She was a very patriotic woman who loved the American flag.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, family which includes her daughters, Nikki Broussard and husband, Albert of Lafayette; Patrice Gary of Broussard; Annette Fontenot and husband, Andy of Scott; her sons, Robert Provost III of Scott; Timothy “Timmy” Provost of Birmingham, AL; Paul Provost and wife, Peggy of Lafayette; and Michael Provost of West Monroe; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bobby” Provost, Jr.; sister, Yvonne Sibille Guidry; two brothers, Vernon Sibille; and Roland R. Sibille, Jr.; and her parents, Roland Sibille, Sr. and Martha Lavergne Sibille.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Thursday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
