Carrie Eva Hansen was born March
31, 1907 near Newell in Buena Vista
County, the daughter of Jonathan Thomas
and Maggie (Bellows) Fitchett. She
attended Country School #9 near Newell.

On Sept. 30, 1924 she married Harding
H. Hansen at the Fitchett family
home. He died Sept. 1, 1970.

Carrie was a lifelong member of the
Methodist Church. She was also a member
of Rebekah Lodge, Birthday Club,
and she enjoyed playing cards, fishing,
gardening and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her parents,
her husband, six brothers, a sister, a
great grandson, Craig Steven Eickhoff on
Oct. 8, 1978, and a great-granddaughter,
Jodie Olsen.

She is survived by three daughters:
Betty Eickhoff and her husband Edgar,
Newell, Margie Peck, Alta, and Rubyrose
Piercy and her husband Loren,v Storm
Lake; a son, Kenneth Hansen and his wife
Rosemary, Lakeside; 16 grandchildren;
46 great-grandchildren; and 27 greatgreat-
grandchildren. Also surviving are
two sisters, Bessie Whalen and Elsie
Kuhn of Newell and many other extended
family members and friends.
