Alex Riggie Redden, 17, of Meadow Bridge, died June 16, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on his way home from work.

Born Dec. 1, 1994, at Fairlea, he was the son of William “Bill” Redden and wife Connie of Meadow Bridge and Arthena Keiffer Austin and husband Lee of Rainelle.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mason Long and Maxine Redden Lewis, and his maternal grandparents, Woodrow Nelson and Bernice Holliday Keiffer.

Riggie was to be a senior during the 2012-2013 school year at Meadow Bridge High School, where he was an honor student. He was looking forward to the United States Air Force upon graduation.

Alex attended the Sewell Valley Baptist Church at Rainelle. He enjoyed basketball; all outdoor sports; Facebook and his Chevy truck he was working on.

Surviving, in addition to his parents: brothers, James Redden of Meadow Bridge and Billy Redden of Indiana; sisters, Patricia Williams of Quinwood and April Ferrell and husband James of Whitesville; step-brother, JR Simms of Meadow Bridge; step-sisters, Becky Simms of Meadow Bridge, Pamela Thombs and husband Michael of Layland, and Cassie Sparks of Oak Hill; Theresa “MawMaw” Redden of Meadow Bridge and 25 nieces and nephews.

Services were June 20 at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bennie Kenney officiating. Burial followed in the Claypool Cemetery at Meadow Bridge.
