Mr. Morgan was born March 5, 1925 in Oliver Springs, TN. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in the Joyner Community of Morgan County and the Omega Masonic Lodge # 536 F & AM in Oliver Springs.
Norman served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a heavy mortar crewman and a expert carbine marksman. While serving he received several medals and ribbons, including the AP Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
Before his retirement he was employed at the Y-12 Federal Plant as an Electrical Foreman. He was also a Hamm Radio enthusiast and operator for several decades.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest Morgan and Bessie Sanders Morgan; by brothers: Gilbert, Carl, Charles, and John Curtis Morgan and by a sister, Reba Thompkins Gerber.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Griffith Morgan of Oliver Springs; by sons: Dwight Barry Morgan and wife, Phyllis of Oliver Springs, Jerry Morgan and wife, Margaret of Coalfield, Garry Morgan of Rockwood, and Larry Morgan of Knoxville. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
Burial and graveside services with full military honors will be held, Sunday, August 17, 2014, at 3:00 P.M. at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Pastor Matt Reed officiating. Sharp Funeral Home is serving the Morgan family
