Rogersville: Larry L. Mahan, age 64, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was saved at an early age and joined Stoney Gap Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Spires Chapel Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent until his health declined. Mr. Mahan was a graduate of Hancock County High School. He was employed at American Enka for several years. Larry was personnel manager and safety director for A. J. Metler Trucking Co. for a number of years. He pursued his love of automobiles when he opened Mahan's Auto Repair and Sales in 1982. He was an auto enthusiast and took great pride and care in every job he performed until his retirement in 2007.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Edna Trent Mahan; sisters, Carolyn Stapleton and Anna Lou Minor and brothers, Emory and Jack Mahan.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judy Minor Mahan of the home, daughter, Misty Loudy and husband, Brent; son, Lynn Mahan and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Sarah-Kathryn Loudy, Celeste Loudy, Selena Loudy, Shaelyn Mahan and Benjamin Mahan, all of Rogersville; sisters, Reba Mahan and Dorothy Seal, both of Sneedville; brothers, Paul Mahan and wife, Betty of Bean Station, Allen Mahan, Kenny Mahan and wife, Rebecca, Dowell Mahan and wife, Pat, all of Sneedville, Blake Mahan and wife, Anna of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Spires Chapel Baptist Church and other times at the residence.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Spires Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John North officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.
