GA Confederate Pension Applications 1879-1960 Muscogee
State of Georgia}
County of Muscogee} In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for the County of Muscogee Mrs. Sarah Brown, who being sworn according to law, says under oath that she is the widow of Milton Brown, who was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States, and served as a member of Company K, of the 3rd Georgia Regiment of State troops Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about March 1864, and was in the Confederate Army up to October, 1864. That while in the Army, he was on the 1864. He died from a relapse of the measels while in camps at Savannah, Ga.

Deponent further swears that she was the wife of said deceased soldier during his term of service in the Army, and that she has never married since his death; that she became his wife on the ___ [left blank] day of Mch, 1853, and that she has resided in Georgia. . .since her birth; . . . Sarah her mark Brown 27 Jan 1893 Joseph F. Pou, Ordinary.

Affidavit for Three Witnesses
State of Georgia, County of Muscogee} In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, witnesses W. T. COLLIER (known to the said Attesting Officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens), who severally say under oath that from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. Sarah Brown, of the County of Muscogee State of Georgia is the widow of Milton Brown, who was a soldier in Company K, of the 3rd Regt of Georgia State Troops. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate States (or the Georgia State Troops) on our about 1864. That while in said service or by reason of said service in the Army, he lost his life as follows: I certify that he died while serving as a soldier in Savannah, Ga. in the year 1864.

Our opportunity for knowing the facts stated in reference to death of applicant's husband were that I was at that time a brother in law of said Milton Brown decsd.
We further swear that Mrs. Sarah Brown was the wife of said soldier during the service, and that she has not intermarried since his death, and that she resides in Muscogee County of the State of Georgia. W. T. COLLIER

Certificate of Ordinary of the County of Applicant's Residence
State of Georgia} I, Joseph T Pou, Ordinary in and for said county of Muscogee State of Georgia, hereby certify that I am acquainted with Mrs. Sarah Brown the applicant for a pension in this case, and know, from my own knowledge, that she resides in this County, and that she resided in the State of Georgia on December 23rd, 1890, and has not lived out of the State since that date. I also certify that the witnesses, W. T. Collier, W. S. Brown & S. P. DeLoach, whose testimony she presents to sustain her claim are known to me to be truthful witnesses entitled to full faith and credit as such. I am fully satisfied that this claim is made in good faith, and that I have caused the applicant and the witness, W T. Collier, to read or hear read the proofs they sign.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of my office, this, the 7th day of February, 1893. Joseph T. Pou, Ordinary.

In later years pension says Milton Brown served from March 1864 to 10th Nov 1864 and he died on 10th Nov 1864. dated 2 Jan 1895

State of Georgia, County of Talbot} In person came before me the undersigned Ordinary in and for said county, witnesses W. Scott Brown and Seaborn P. DeLoache, each known to me as truthful, reliable and resputable citizens, who severally state that from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. Sallie Brown of the County of Muscogee, state of Georgia is the widow of Milton Brown who was a soldier in the Georgia State Troops in the year 1864. That while is said service he lost his life as follows: He went to Army and did not return.

We further swear that Mrs. Sallie Brown was the wife of said soldier during the service and that she has not intermarried since his death, and that she resides in Muscogee County of the state of Georgia. W. Scott Brown further swears that he knows of the fact of said Milton Brown's service because he was a brother of said Milton Brown and went with him from Columbus, Georgia to Macon, Georgia, at the time he entered the service.

Seaborn P. DeLoach further swears that he knows of the service and failure to return from the war by this circumstances: Before going into the service said Milton Brown was in the employment of the father of deponent as the agent of Leonard Rush who was then in the service as Chaplain, and after said Milton Brown failed to return from the war, said Leonard Rush settled with said Sallie Brown as the widow of said Milton Brown, for the services rendered him before goin to the war.
