Ruby Marguriete (Riley) Acklin, 94, Savannah, Mo., died June 10, 1997, at a St. Joseph health-care center.

Mrs. Acklin was born April 1, 1903 in Washington, Kansas to Dave and Anna Conz Riley. She had been a teacher in the Graham School District, retiring after 22 years in 1965.

She married Glenn W. Acklin in 1925.

She had resided in Graham and Maryville most of her life before moving to Savannah. She was a graduate of Graham High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Graham, and had been a pianist and Sunday School teacer at Bethany Christian Church for several years. She was a past member of the Lyle Club, Progressive Club, Senior Housing Board, Community Betterment, Good Luck Club, and a member of Chapter #420 Order of Eastern Star. She was also chosen as one of the 50 oustanding women in Missouri in 1938 by the Saturday Evening Post Magazine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Floyd Riley and three sisters, Opal Hunter, Pearl McNiell and Emerald Kissinger.

Survivors include one niece, Rose Ann Adams, St. Joseph; and one nephew, George McNiell, Allyn, WA.

Services were held June 13 at the Breit and Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Mo.
Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Mo.
