Nelson Berkshire, 79, Royal Center, retired farmer, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1976, at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. Born May 29, 1887, in Carroll County, he was the son of William and Amy Harvey Berkshire, he was first married in 1916 at St. Joseph Mich., to Permela Huffman, who died Feb. 5, 1963. His second marriage was on Dec. 7,
1963, to Ruey Tam, who survives. A member of Center Presbyterian Church, he is also survived by five sons, Robert, Rt. 4, Logansport; Francis, Logansport; Clyde, Rt 2, Royal Center; Dean, Royal Center; and
Charles, Logansport; three daughters, Mrs. Thora Pownell, Rt. 6, Logansport; Mrs. Mary Benson, McCombs, Ohio; and Mrs. Helen Merkert, Rt. 4, Rochester. Also surviving are six stepsons, Glen Tam, Homosassa Springs, Fla.; Paul Tam, San Diego, Calif.; Bill Tam, Birmingham,
Ala.; Leo Tam, Dayton, Ohio; Donald Tam, Granger; and George Tam, St. Joseph, Mich.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lela Carter, South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Land, Crystal River, Fla., and Mrs. Alice Cass,
Rt. 1, Royal Center; three brothers, Fred, Bradenton, Fla.; Enos, Camden; and Quincy, Rt. 1, Royal Center; 24 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 27 step grandchildren, and 22 step-great grandchildren.
Two sisters, one brother and one grandson preceded him in
death.
Services were at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at the Harrison Garden Chapel, the Rev. Carl Polstra officiating. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery near Burnettsville. Carroll County Comet, Wed., Oct. 20, 1976
