Hugh was the son of Ralph and Juanita Patterson. He served with the US Army in WWII and was captured by the Germans at Normandy when the tank he was in was destroyed. He was a prisoner of war at Stalag 7B in Memmingen, Bavaria for almost a year, and was affected by shrapnel in his leg throughout his life. He married Marilyn Goodman. They had 2 daughters, an infant that died at birth and Pamela, two grandchildren, Trent and Suzie, and great-grandchildren, Colton, Cayden and Gabriella. He retired from Mead Paper in Chillicothe having worked there for many years. He died of lukemia.
