Michigan City/Hobart -- Walter M. "Mick" Zimny, 55, of Long Beach, Michigan City, formerly of Hobart, passed away suddenly in his home Friday, May 1, 1998. Mick was a graduate of Hobart High School, class of 1960 where he lettered in football. He attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. He was the former owner of Campbell-Zimny Real Estate in Hobart and currently employed in a supervisory position with Bethlehem Steel Corporation after 33 years of service. He was a past Vice-President of Hobart Jaycee's and former Pop Warner football coach in Hobart for many years.
Mick was preceded in death by his sister, Sydell Rangeloff in 1993. Survived by wife of 35 years, Sharon S. (nee Campbell) Zimny of Michigan City; one son, Jay C. (Karri) Zimny of Hobart; two daughters, Kristine M. McCullough of Michigan City and Kara L. (fiance, Jeff Kuehne) Zimney of Vail, CO; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Kirby McCullough; mother, Julia Zimny of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Bob (Sue) Zimny and Marshall (Jeanette) Zimny, both of Sarasota, FL; two sisters, Jackie (Carl) Essig of Sarasota, FL and Babe (Vince) Arcuri of Hobart; mother and father-in-law, Millie and Jim O'Malley of Sarasota, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Tuesday, May 5, 1998 at 9:15 a.m. from the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart), corner of Rt. 51 and 7th Street, to St. Bridget Church in Hobart for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating. Interment, Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Prayer service Monday at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Friends may call at Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m.
