Bill lived in LaQuinta, Calif. Born in Williston and raised in Bonetraill, he attended Grenora Public School and graduated from Williston High School. After graduating from Dickinson College, Bill began his teaching career in the Coachella Valley of Southern California’s Palm Springs area where he lived in the nearby city of La Quinta. He remained at Westside Elementary School in Thermal for 27 years, where he was so proud of his school and all the students he taught throughout the years.
Bill was passionate about golf, tennis, the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Angels, but was most passionate about his role as a father to Harrison and the girls, Eliana and Estella. He loved them to no end, and they brought him immeasurable love and joy. He glowed at their every achievement.
Bill was a gifted storyteller and loved to reminisce about days gone by. If you would ask Bill his favorite part of teaching, he would always say PE and recess with a laugh. He often saw things in a humorous light and would say he was sharing his Hought philosophy. Bill took up gardening and loved to putter around his yard at home and at the farm. In later years, Bill was very attentive to his parents in North Dakota, or Arizona in the winter months. The beauty and tranquility of the family farm in North Dakota brought Bill peace and was a tremendous source of pride.
Bill is survived by his son, Harrison; Maria, her girls, Eliana and Estella; his parents, Robert and Lillie Hought; brothers, Tom and Barry; sisters, Vicki, Nancy Lebsock and Kim (Jim) Clymer; numerous adoring nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and former colleagues. He will be sadly missed by all.
