Major League Baseball Player. For six seasons (1951, 1954 to 1958), he was a left-handed pitcher with the New York Yankees and Washington Senators. Born Robert George Wiesler, he attended Beaumont High School and was signed by the Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1949. He marked his Major League debut with the Yankees August 3, 1951 and pitched in three games during the New York's world championship season. Following three-years of service with the United States Army during the Korean War, he returned to the Yankees' pitching staff and in 1955, he experienced a pennant-winning season. After he was acquired by Washington, he produced a career-high 37 games-pitched. In 70 career regular season games, he compiled a 7 win 19 loss record with a lifetime 5.74 ERA in 241 innings pitched. After retiring from baseball, he worked for the Anheuser-Busch Company in his native St. Louis.
