His children were: Mary, married to Dan Christopher Chisholm. They lived at Pomquet River and had one daughter Eileen, who married a Mr. Sinclair, they lived in the Boston area. Sandy's other children were: John, who died in New York in 1940, he was buried at Pomquet; Flora, who lived in the Boston area; and Margaret, who married Ronald William MacLellan of South Side Harbour, and also lived in the Boston area and had no family.
Hugh had a son, Red Alan MacDonald, who married Annie MacDonald (Dollock), sister of Alan MacDonald (Plaster) of South Side Harbour. They had a son Alex (The Widow) MacDonald, who lived on the old homestead at Black River. Alex had a family among which was, Alan Joseph, who has a family and lives on the old homestead.
Hugh also had a son Andrew, who married Christena MacDonald, daughter of Rory MacDonald.
