Services for J.F. Buske, 80, of Abernathy will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wilcox, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under direction of Abell Funeral Home.

He died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Lubbock County. He was raised in Abernathy and attended Abernathy schools.

He served in the 112th Calvary during World War II. He moved to Oregon, where he was employed as a breakman for the railroad. He married Clara Parker on Feb. 16, 1951, in Klamath Falls, Ore. He moved to Friona in 1952 and to Abernathy in 1957, where he farmed near both communities. He retired from farming in 1983.

He was a member of the American Legion and Abernathy First Baptist Church. He served on the board of directors for the Abernathy Co-op Gin for many years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lyn Waters, on July 30, 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Buske of Abernathy; a daughter, Debbie Hernandez of Lubbock,; a brother J.B. of Friona; three sisters, Ollie Nichols of Happy, Lizzie Young of Abernathy and Charlene Nichols of Klamath Falls, Ore.
