OSHIRO, Vietta Loreen (nee Gingrich) - Went to be with her Lord, 4 a.m. on November 20, 2008. Born September 24, 1932, she is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Rev. Tom Oshiro. Vietta is lovingly remembered by her children, Mike (Sue), Sandy (Russ) and Barb (Garth); grandchildren, Tadia, Caleb, Kezia, Hope, Nathan, Rachel, Bethany, Hannah, Monica and Jenna; brothers and sister, Vernon (Eileen), Gordon, Virgil (Della), Delmer (Marguerite), Velorous (John), and their families. Predeceased by her parents, Ozias and Naomi and brother, Newton. Vi will be sadly missed by all those at Mustard Seed Street Church where she had set up nursing care and fed hundreds of families as lead organizer of the annual Christmas Banquet. She has indelibly left her mark of excellence and leadership in nursing at Victoria's Sunset & Matson Lodges (elderly care), New Westminster's Royal Columbian Hospital (supervisor), Cambridge Memorial Hospital (supervisor, maternity, emergency), Brantford General Hospital (head nurse) and Emo Red Cross Hospital (general duty). Her family honours her as their pillar of strength, support, encouragement and humble servanthood. She was a woman full of laughter, comfort and wisdom who willingly put others ahead of herself, faithfully serving alongside her husband for nearly 50 years of ministry (in Emo, Brantford, Cambridge and Victoria) and opening the hospitality of her heart and home to many. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 28, 2008, at First Church of the Nazarene in Victoria. A Memorial Service will also be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at King St. Baptist Church in Cambridge, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Mustard Seed Street Church, 625 Queens Ave., Victoria, B.C., V8T 1L9.
