Carolyn was born in Kaplan, LA to the late Clifton Bertrand and the late Velma Marceaux Bertrand on January 20, 1954. Carolyn loved to dance to French music and play Bingo. She also enjoyed being outdoors while gardening. She was a nurturing person, who loved taking care of others.
Carolyn is survived by one son, Kevin Wayne Bertrand of Roswell, New Mexico; one daughter, Nekeya Bertrand of Roswell, New Mexico; two brothers, Malton Bertrand of Gueydan, LA, Travis Bertrand (Annette) of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sisters, Lou Ella Marcantel (Ray) of Lake Arthur, LA, Mary Alice Derouen (Larry) of Welsh, LA; one great granddaughter, Sariah Bertrand; one great-great grandson, Khai Bertrand both of Nampa, ID.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Velma Bertrand; three sisters, June Bertrand, Delores Conner, Jeanelle Bertrand.
A Service honoring Carolyn's life will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan, LA on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan, LA on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of her service.
