James Doran Martin, 93, of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Martin and his parents, William and Fannie Martin, a brother, William Martin,Jr.
Survivors include his daughter, Faye Sykes and husband, Larry of, Hillsville, grandchildren, Todd Sykes and wife, Renee of, Hillsville, Tony Sykes and wife, Robin of, Hillsville, Cindy Parlier and husband, David of, Hillsville, Great-Grandchildren, Katie Turman, Alex Sykes, Steele Sykes, Peter Sykes, Jacob Turman, Julia Sykes, Gabe Sykes, Joshua Parlier and Grace Parlier. Also surviving are his brothers, Rev. Jack Martin and wife, Alvina of, Harrisonburg, Rush Martin and his wife, Marie of, Max Meadows, sister-in-law, Pat Webb of, Hillsville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gladesboro Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph Shumate officiating. The burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. Grover King Post 1115 will be conducting military rights. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 6 – 8 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gladesboro Lutheran Church.
