William A. FERRIS died Saturday, September 15, at the home of his sister, Mrs. D.H. MORRIS, of Shiawassee township.
Mr. FERRIS was born June 1, 1854 at Cohoctan, Steuben Co., NY. In 1871, he was married to Miss Rosaline FOSTER of that county, who passed away nearly four years ago. He came to Michigan in 1873 and settled in this county. After a few years of residence here, he moved to Detroit, where he resided until about two years ago when ill health obliged him to give up his occupation as machinist and came to pass his remaining years with his sister here. Forty-one years ago he became a member of Vernon Lodge, 99, I.O.O.F. After going to Detroit, he transfered to Wayne Lodge, No. 2, of that city, and was a member in good standing at the time of his death.
Mr. FERRIS is survived by one brother, Charles E. FERRIS, of New Jersey, and one sister, Mrs. Emma J. MORRIS, of this place; also three half-brothers and two half-sisters.
The funeral was held Monday at the home of D.H. MORRIS, of this place, Rev. S.H. BERRY, of Bancroft, officiating, assisted by Vernon Lodge. Interment in Newburg cemetery.
[obituary from Owosso Argus-Press, probably 16 Sep 1917.]
