Former Resident of County Dies

Mrs. Emma Jane MORRIS, 90, widow of Dexter MORRIS and for more than 50 years a resident of Shiawassee Township, died Friday at 9:15 p.m. at the home in Flint where she had been living for the past 20 years. Death was attributed to old age. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Flint. Burial will be in Newburg Cemetery. Emma Jane FERRIS was born in New York state December 30, 1858, daughter of George[sic] and Emma[sic] FERRIS. She came to Vernon shortly before her marriage to Mr. MORRIS there 70 years ago, and for the succeeding 50 years the couple lived on a farm near the Lemon School. After Mr. MORRIS' death 20 years ago, Mrs. MORRIS moved to Flint to live with a son-in-law, J. A. BUHL, at whose home she died. Surviving is a grandson, Roland A. BUHL of Chicago.

Emma's parents were Silas 'Hulsey' [or Halsey] FERRIS (1830-1890) and Sarah Jane BUSH (d. bef. 1860 NY).
