On 13 January 2011, JLB provided the following information;

Mrs. Mary Hall East, 69, well known Waynesboro resident, who had been critically ill for several weeks, died this morning at 8:50 o'clock at her home, 476 Chestnut Avenue.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alfred R. Shumate, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles F. Steck Jr., of Grottoes, former pastor of Grace Lutheran Church here.
Mrs. East was the wife of Emmett Brooks East, retired mail carrier, who survives. She was born January 28, 1871, near Stuarts Draft, the daughter of the late William Lewis Hall and the late Lucy Vaden Hall. She was married in Waynesboro to Emmett Brooks East on August 26, 1891. This August 26 with her husband she celebrated her 49th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. East came to Waynesboro with her husband in 1904. She lived all her life in Augusta County. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a faithful member of the Grace Lutheran Church. She had many friends in this city.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ernest East and Roy East; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Wine and Mrs. J. F. Boward, all of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mrs. G. E. Robey, of Waynesboro; Mrs. D. E. Whitesell, Mrs. Rhoda Harris; both of Stuarts Draft; and Mrs. Annie Branum, of Bridgewater; and one brother, R. W. Hall, of Stuarts Draft. She was preceded to the grave by two brothers, John W. Hall, of Staunton; and George Hall, of Stuarts Draft. She is survived by four grandchildren, Dorothy, Nancy, and Ernest East Jr., and Virgie Wine.
Active pallbearers will include C. A. Marks Jr., M. F. Crum, Alvin Landes, W. D. Shumate, Chas. Steck, III, and Rufus Robertson, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will include John Henkel, L. B. Watson, O. C. Landes, Morris Anderson, W. E. Thieroff, C. G. Quesenbery, Driver Etter, Dr. H. B. Webb, Dr. J. F. Hubbard, M. A. R. Loth, Frank Beck, Dr. R. S. Griffith, J. Frank Harper, Walter Hickok, Ed Dodd, V. A. Moyer, Charleton Davis, and members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War posts.
