"Clinical Records of the Continued Fevers. -- Case 25. — Sequent diarrhoea and oedema of feet. — Private John Vaus (sic.), Co. C, 82d Ill.; age 35; was admitted June 18, 1863, from Stanton hospital, Washington, D. C., as a convalescent from typhoid fever. He had been taken with the fever in March; diarrhoea followed, and about June 1 his feet began to swell. He was placed on quinine and tincture of iron in small doses, and due attention was paid to his diet; but the diarrhoea recurring, pills of Dover's powder and suphate of iron, and afterwards turpentine in mucilage, were tried.
