"Albany police today recovered the body of Robert J. King, 76, from the Hudson River at the foot of Ferry, where he is believed to have plunged into the water during the night.
"The man's personal effects indicated he lived either at 314 Western, Albany, or 70 Ferry, Troy.
"His auto was seen parked at the foot of Ferry last night by Joseph Shepherd, 35 Erie, a watchman at the Barge Canal terminal, and Herman Gingold, 92 Northern Blvd., night watchman at the Buff Scrap Company. At daylight they found the man's shoes beside a hawser post and called police of the Third Precinct.
"Patrolmen Casper Smith and Daniel McGraw recovered the body after dragging for an hour.
"Coroner J. Gregory Nealon said a note requesting that an Albany woman be notified was found in King's car. Police reported King's death to the woman, who said she was a casual acquaintance.
"Survivors include his wife, Fredericka Gonyea King, address unknown, from whom King had been separated several years; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hunkin, Winniped, Mass., and a son, Walter of Stratford, Ontario.
"Burial was to be in Ann Lee Cemetery."
