Joseph, 67, of Clare, passed away on Friday, August 1, at his home. He was the son of Ralph and Doris (Ramey) Ackerman. on July 5, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant.

Joe' s first wife Kim preceded him in death. He married Deborah Grigg on Oct. 7, 1989 and she survives him.

Joe had been a Pipefitter with Local 85, and had served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong resident of the Clare Area, and was a member of the Pettit-Kapplinger VFW Post in Clare, the Clare-Farwell American Legion Post #558, The Clare Moose Lodge, Clare Eagles, and the John Q. Look Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah, his daughters, Melisa Voil of Florida, Tracy Ackerman of Coleman, and Amy Veitengruber of Clare, step-children, Jennifer Kendall of Clare, and Jeff Pudvay of Farwell, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his sister Jill Marshall also of Clare.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim and his parents.

In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on Saturday, August 23, at the Clare-Farwell American Legion Post with Mr. Kelly Morley officiating.

Memorials may be made to MidMichigan Hospice and Homecare.

Arrangements were by the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Homes.
