James Frederick Harms, 94, of Peoria passed away Friday evening, Aug. 1, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born May 16, 1920, in Pekin to Elmer and Frieda Harms. He married Ilene M. Palmer on Aug. 10, 1947, in Pekin. She survives him.

Also surviving are his daughter, Marcia Hahnfeld (Jerry) of Michigan; son, Kenneth (Jan) of Colorado; and his sister, Lois Nash of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Allenspach; and his parents.

Jim was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. In World War II, he served in General Patton's army at the Battle of the Bulge.

For many years, Jim was the owner of Creve Coeur Realty and Insurance. He retired in 1990.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
