Clyde was the 4th son and the 8th child of John Daniel and Laura Ada Woolley Bateman and a brother to my paternal grandfather, James Monroe Bateman. He married Mary Etta Chaney Bateman on April 14, 1921 in Van Zandt Co, TX.

Wills Point -- Clyde William Bateman of Wills Point died at his home Tuesday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with the Rev. Edward Tidwell officiating. Burial will be in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Bateman was a native of Edgewood. He had lived most of his life in Van Zandt, Co. He was a retired farmer and strawberry grower. He was a member of Myrtle Springs Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Etta Bateman of Wills Point; one son Cloyde C. Bateman of Dallas; two daughters Mrs. Vernell McCrary of Mesquite and Mrs. Laura Faye Harris of Dallas; fives sisters. Mrs. Lera Platter of Canton, Mrs. Monnie Baugh of Wills Point, Mrs. Ora Hall of Abilene, Mrs. Verlie Snow of Dallas and Mrs. Sallie Simpson of Wichita Falls, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
