SALT LICK -- John A. Basford, 83, Bluestone, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Mary Chiles Hospital, Mt. Sterling, after a long illness. A native of Bath County, he was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Willis Basford; a son, Harold Basford, Middleton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Prudie Ward, Bluestone; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Meeks, Middletown, Ohio; Mrs. Fanny Stone, Wanatak, Indiana, and Mrs. Mildred Johnson, Harvey, Illinois; a brother, Harry Basford, Harvey, Illinois; two half brothers, Otto Spence, Cedar Grove, West Virginia, and Herbert Spence, Newport; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Siloam Church of God by the Rev. Hershal Moore. Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The body was taken to the residence tonight from the Powell and Son Funeral Home.
