Ledlie I. Laughlin, freshman adviser and associate director of admissions at Princeton University from 1928 to 1953, died Monday at his home in Princeton He was 86 years old.
Mr. Laughlin, a native of Pittsburgh, was a descendant of a founder of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, where he worked and became a director. He was a graduate of St. Paul's School and of Princeton in 1912.
In World war I he was a captain in the 315th Infantry, 79th Division. A collector of pewter, he was the author of “Pewter in America” (1940) and other publications in the field.
Surviving are his wife, the former Roberta Howe; four sons — Leighton,. James, the Rev. Ledlie I. Jr. and Robert; a brother, Henry A.; and 11 grandchildren.
