Funeral services for Mrs. May Short, 61, were conducted Monday afternoon in the Friona Baptist Church with Rev. C.M. Fields, local pastor, in charge. He was assisted by Rev. Russell Pogne of the Temple Baptist Church in Hereford.
Mrs. Short died in the local hospital Sunday morning, following illness of several months.
Mrs. Short was born in Missouri on May 25, 1892. She was married to A.B. Short in Meade, Kansas and they came to Hereford in 1925, moving to Friona a year later.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Lawrence M. Dumont of Denver, Colorado, one daughter, Mrs. Curtis Murphree of Friona; three step children, Douglas Short of Springfield, Colorado, Mrs. R.G. Loflin of Springfield; and Mrs. Louis Baxter of Quanah; one brother, LeRoy Cope of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Edd Ewalt of Enumclaw, Wash., Mrs. Mattie Dever of Redwood City, California, and 19 grandchildren.
Burial was in the Friona cemetery under the direction of Gililland Funeral Home.
