WINDSOR - Clifford Garfield Welch Sr., 91, of Legion Park Road, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, as the results of an automobile accident. He was born in Sumner on Dec. 1, 1922, a son of Arthur Garfield and Sarah Elizabeth (Stevens) Welch. He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic.

On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Grace Mae Shepherd. He was most happy with family and friends, enjoying camping, whitewater rafting, tinkering and could fix anything. He also enjoyed reading the bible, Christian stories and taking the children and grandchildren on walks to the mountain on his property. He was a Pastor at the American Rescue.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Mae Welch, of Windsor; one son, Clifford G. Welch Jr., of Gray; four daughters, Sheila Robinson, of Auburn, Marlene Severance, of Lincoln, Charlene Burney and her husband, Walter, of Westbrook, and Dianne Coston and her husband, Rusty, of Windsor; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will held at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Mount Vernon Road in Augusta at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Nazarene, 117 Dana Mill Road, Woolwich, ME 04579. (Kennebec Journal 8/1/2014)
