He was a son of James and Christine Klansnic. He served in WW II B-17 bomber pilot. He was shot down over Austria and spent 13 months in an Austrian POW camp. After the war he worked as an Engineer at Boeing.

His wife Tillie and sister Sally preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Lorie; brother, Dick; and his children: Marilyn (Bruce), Jimmy Jet (Elaine), John (Diane), Paul (Heidi), Mike (Karla), and Barb (Kevin); grandchildren Milena (Franky), Phoebe (Chris), Celena (Logan), Tyler (Kristin), Kasey, Chad, Cody and Zach; and his great-grandchildren, Hazel, Olive and Atticus James.
