Alvin C. Rex, 84, of Berwick passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at Berwick Retirement Village, where he was a resident since May 2014.

He was born April 3, 1930, in Berwick, a son to the late Charles and Goldie (Shultz) Rex.

Alvin worked as a carpenter for most of his adult life. He also served in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve for almost 30 years. He was honorably discharged June 2, 1979, with the rank of Master Sergeant. Guns, antique cars, and fishing were among the things Alvin loved.

As well as his parents, he was preceded in death on June 3, 2014, by his wife, the former Sara Ash. Also preceding was a brother, Sonny.

Surviving Alvin are three sons: Scott and his wife, Kathy, of Berwick; Keith Lowe and his wife, Gina, of Virginia; and Ricky Lowe of Scranton; a daughter, Deborah Ross, and her husband, David, of North Carolina; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry, and his wife, Robin, of Berwick; and three sisters: Fay Hess and her husband, Jim, of Berwick; Carol Rex of Berwick; and Lois Rex of Berwick.

Alvin's funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Pastor Arthur D. Riddle of Faith Assembly of God Church in Hazle Township will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Summerhill Cemetery.
