She was born and raised in Richmond, Va., and that is where she met her husband, John P.G. McKenzie. They made their home in Austin, Texas and were blessed with a baby girl, Karol. John and Leah were married over 52 years when he passed away in 1999. Leah was a member of First Seventh-Day Adventist Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. John P.G. McKenzie of the United States Army. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, all resident of Richmond, Va.
Leah is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Karol and Lewis Sims; granddaughters, Ashley Berry and Heather Redeaux and husband, Albert; and one brother- in-law, Pastor Victor Zuchowski.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment followed at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks in Pflugerville. [Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 2/15/2006.]
