LEXINGTON Age 93, died Friday, August 2, 2013 in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born December 30, 1919 in Detroit, son of the late Zygmunt and Stella Zielinski. He and Shirley E. O'Connor were married September 6, 1947 in Detroit.

Gene was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air corps during WW II. He retired from the Board of Asessors for the City of Detroit. He was a member of St. Denis Church and the Ushers Club; life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of K of C Council #7255 Fr. LaHaie, Lexington.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years Shirley; son and daughter in law David and Karen of Clinton Twp.; six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Diane.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 A.M. Wednesday at St. Denis Catholic Church, Lexington. The Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial with military rites by Croswell American Legion Post #255 will be in Lexington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington from 6 to 9 P.M. Monday; 2 to 9 P.M. Tuesday and 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Wednesday. Vigil 7 P.M. Tuesday.
